TRUE WINNERS NEVER CHEAT

Winners are people who surmount mountains, overcome obstacles to achieve seemingly impossible feats. Yet, there are winners who were later discovered to be cheats. They lost all the accolades, respect and dignity they once commanded; they were reduced to nothing but a societal misfit.

We all know what is wrong and right since no one is raised in a moral vacuum. Every normal and mentally balanced human being can distinguish right from wrong. No matter your disposition (religion or academic wise), you know what is right or wrong and the consequences attached to both actions. Some certain attitudes trigger a disconnect with our conscience that serves as our inner compass.

Teens of today may dismiss it, but doesn’t any student consider cheating fundamentally wrong? Does anyone also TRULY condone stealing? Does the society also accept embezzlement, cooking corporate account books and fraud for corporate executives? Of course, the answers to these questions are NO!
Basic misbehaviour no matter how seemingly appealing is considered as wrong today as it was 200 years ago, though today’s modern atmosphere creates sophisticated rationalizations for such mischief. However in the words of a man known for his integrity; George Washington, he said ‘labour to keep alive in your breast that little spark of celestial fire called conscience’.

There is no witness so terrible or no accuser as powerful as the conscience. No matter what you do, once you know it is wrong; don’t be so proud to ignore the consequences of such action. You might be able to escape the consequences today but be sure that consequences postponed are not consequences denied, you will surely reap the consequences of your actions.

Sometimes, people give excuses for lying, fraud and cheating as ‘everyone does it’, ‘I was ressured into it by high expectations’, etc. Others might say, ‘that’s the only way I can measure up to the standard of my colleagues.’ These are just excuses but they are not the real reasons such people do them. These real reasons include; greed, lack of self-discipline, arrogance, power trips amongst others.

No matter what you do in life, if you sincerely desire to become great and be known as a standard for sincere and true prosperity, NEVER EVER CHEAT!

To your greatness,

Seun Odunayo
